For a new year

I think that more than ever before, certainly in my lifetime of 66 years, we go into a new year with a sense of trepidation.  2016 has not been a happy year for this world.  So many people lost;  famous faces but an even greater number of unknown, but equally precious souls.  Lost to the world through violence, ignorance and every kind of wrongdoing you can think of.  Goodness knows what 2017 will bring, with such narcissistic personalities at the helm and in action. One thing you can be sure of - we are all in it together, so I hope that recognition of truth and doing the right thing will prevail, and this time next year we will be feeling rather more at peace than I think we do at the moment.  Hope springs eternal!

Let's start the new year with this!
Deep peace I breathe into you,
O weariness, here:
O ache, here!
Deep peace, a soft white dove to you;
Deep peace, a quiet rain to you;
Deep peace, an ebbing wave to you!
Deep peace, red wind of the east from you;
Deep peace, grey wind of the west to you;
Deep peace, dark wind of the north from you;
Deep peace, blue wind of the south to you!
Deep peace, pure red of the flame to you;
Deep peace, pure white of the moon to you;
Deep peace, pure green of the grass to you;
Deep peace, pure brown of the earth to you;
Deep peace, pure grey of the dew to you,
Deep peace, pure blue of the sky to you!
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the sleeping stones to you!
Deep peace of the Yellow Shepherd to you,
Deep peace of the Wandering Shepherdess to you,
Deep peace of the Flock of Stars to you,
Deep peace from the Son of Peace to you,
Deep peace from the heart of Mary to you,
And from Briget of the Mantle
Deep peace, deep peace!
And with the kindness too of the Haughty Father
In the name of the Three who are One,
Peace! And by the will of the King of the Elements,
Peace! Peace!

Happy Christmas

Depending on where you are in the world, you may have already tucked into your Christmas dinner, or maybe it is still work in progress!  We always have ours on Christmas Eve, so all our washing up is done and Christmas Day is in the progress of being very relaxing and, now that some of the grandchildren have left the building, really quite peaceful!
I hope that your Brussel sprouts and all the trimmings have been delicious, and that, wherever you are, and whichever time zone, you are enjoying a happy Christmas day.  With very best wishes from the running wave.

Message of thanks!

Blogger has recently changed the format of things, and I have only just worked out how to find your comments!  So apologies to those who have left messages, especially in response to the group hug!  I only found your lovely messages a few minutes ago and they are all so much appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Tilly is back from the animal hospital now.  I have to say that it was quite a shock and upsetting when I first saw her.  Her poor head looks a bit like something out of the Lord of the Rings - those awful naked Orc creatures, who are usually up to no good.  She has, however, retained the auditory canal and her hearing on that side, so that is a blessing.  Hopefully the lab, who will be examining the tumour, will think that enough margins have been taken, and she won't have to go back and have further surgery.  She is in remarkably good spirits.  Back to her old self in every other respect, so that is wonderful.  Once her fur grows back and the plastic lampshade she has on her head can come off (about 5 weeks time), she will be almost as good as new, just minus an ear flap.

Thank you again for your thoughtful messages.

As we race towards Christmas and overdose on red and green, I thought we would celebrate a completely different colour.  Violet.
