New vistas

With a new year comes new vistas for us.  We have moved - again.  Still not in our own home, but we couldn't stay in a first floor flat for long, not with 2 dogs and a cat.  One day we will have our own place again, but for now we are living a bit closer to Edinburgh, so pastures new for a new year.

 Today, the dogs and I had a walk through a cold and frosty wood near East Saltoun.

    Oooohhh that definitely looks a lot colder than my surroundings here in Cornwall (currently 11 degrees, grey and damp.) Lovely photos, as usual but quite a change of scenery for you and the dogs. Did they enjoy scrambling through the woods? Are you now a long way from the sea? I hope you can find your long-term home soon rather than temporary ones. May 2017 be kind to you xxxx

      Thank you for your good wishes, and it's lovely to receive your message - as always. I hope 2017 is good to you too! Might there be a young pup on the horizon to share your walks with you? I can thoroughly recommend their loving, infectious enthusiasm for life! Ted is just a little star and I am not sure what we did before he came along! Tilly loves him too. Tomorrow the cone comes off, following the operation on her ear. She is looking very lopsided without two ear flaps, but the fur is growing back in and with the energy she has for life, she is her old self, and tomorrow will be even more full of beans, as she will be bonnet-free!! Hooray! A xx

    Oh definitely need another companion, but I'm having to bide my time until I'm back to full fitness after my recent knee replacement. Also, I still have my daughter-in-law living with me (and her cat) so as she's a real sucker around animals, I have to wait until I have the house to myself again. There's no way I could train a new dog with S here - she just cannot resist stroking, petting, picking up and cuddling any dog that might come along, also feed it with titbits all the time. But hopefully, I won't need to wait too long; I miss Zac so very much.

      Pups definitely need a lot of time spent on them in the early weeks! I gave Ted most of my summer, but still haven't really cracked the training classes we have been to - I haven't consolidated what we learnt there, so he still loves to tear off to meet anyone and everyone, because he just loves EVERYONE!!! Look forward to hearing about that day a youngster crosses your threshold for the first time and the start of a new adventure for you! A xx

Possibly the last post and a sizzlingly hot vase on Monday

The border in our tiny garden is in an in-between phase at the moment and not very colourful, but elsewhere there are pops of high summer colour and I have brought them together in my vase today. The running wave uses Blogger as it's vehicle and they are changing the way a post is created but unfortunately I cannot make the new format work. I can't progress beyond the title! I cannot navigate to the main body of the post to create text. The new template has no prompts for adding photos, weblinks, to format the text, change font etc. It may be my old MacBook that's as fault but I can't do anything about that!! Are any other IAVOM bloggers who use Blogger having the same problems? I have tried, three times, to contact Blogger through their 'Help' prompt and received no feedback or contact whatsoever. This post is using the old 'Legacy' format, which no longer permits any kind of formatting of text, and so after four attempts I have finally manage...

Early morning light

There have been some cracking early morning skies this week.  The sunrise has generated a strong rose gold light which has been picked up not only in the clouds but also through the silver-white grasses around the edge of the golf course. I always marvel at the clouds.  Constantly changing, formations that have never been seen before, never to be seen again.
