I have just one flower in my vase this week. A simple, pretty, wild narrow-leaved Michaelmas daisy. The vase is actually a black pottery cup. I wish I could remember where we bought it and who made it, but it is a great favourite of mine. I even made it the subject of a piece of artwork several years ago. Clearly shaped by hand, it has the air of a Japanese piece about it.
Welcome to the running wave, which I set up as a vehicle for my photographs, with some observational chat and occasionally a little writing. I hope you enjoy the things I enjoy, sharing my walks with Tilly and Ted, and other excursions I have from time to time.
A striking pairing, the daisy with the black matte pottery. Enjoyed seeing your artwork also.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie. My vase is in stark contrast to your post this week which is just overflowing with colourful abundance! Really lovely! A
DeleteI wish my asters looked half as pretty, Amanda!
ReplyDeleteI think your asters are dealing with much more hostile conditions than these little wild ones which are growing in an orchard near where I keep my bees! Actually the Michaelmas daisies I have in the garden are looking pretty too! A
DeleteThat is such a pretty little aster Amanda which I imagine the bees appreciate too. I enjoyed seeing your art work. What medium did you use? I have dabbled with watercolours but not for some considerable time now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anna. It's an encaustic painting - hot wax and then scratching into the wax and adding paint on top. I did that several years ago - it was good fun! A
DeleteThanks Amanda. Have no heard of that before now. It sounds an enjoyable process.
DeleteIt is! I think I have only done it once, in that class, but it was good fun!! A
DeleteI love seeing all the different asters blooming now in our gardens and in the wild. One of my favorite plants!
ReplyDeleteI love asters too! The Michaelmas daisy variety always reminds me of my grandmother. She had a wonderful selection, and a baby pink one has been particularly memorable for me, ever since I was a little girl! A
DeleteA very pretty aster Amanda. I have a similar one just about toburst open. I love them!
ReplyDeleteMe too. This is a wild one, but I do have a couple in the garden which are looking good at the moment! A September-time bonus in the garden! A
