A substitute 'vase' on Monday

I hope other IAVOM bloggers will forgive this makeshift post for today's vase.  I have had major problems with iPhoto over the past last few days which has meant I haven't been able to access any photographs, and I didn't manage to produce a vase either!  A bit of a weekend.  Anyway, my wizard son-in-law managed to solve the IT problem last night and I thought, as a substitute vase, I would show you a few floral illustrations and extracts from work in the marvellous May Morris exhibition currently showing at the Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh. https://dovecotstudios.com  May Morris was William Morris's daughter, a remarkable woman in so many ways, who produced the most exquisite work.

      It really is a cracking exhibition! Well worth reading up a bit about May Morris's life. She was no ordinary female! A

    It must be a delightful exhibition and it made me think of my late sister who I know woud have taken the opportunity to see it. I love William Morris designs and used to use his wallpaper designs (printed by Sanderson) until they became prohibitively expensive. I will read up about his daughter who I have not heard mentioned before.. Glad your IT problem has been fixed!

      A really wonderful exhibition, and I do have lots more photos but had to hold back a bit for today's post! I think you will enjoy finding out about May Morris. She was some girl!

A simple vase on Monday

I have just one flower in my vase this week. A simple, pretty, wild narrow-leaved Michaelmas daisy. The vase is actually a black pottery cup. I wish I could remember where we bought it and who made it, but it is a great favourite of mine. I even made it the subject of a piece of artwork several years ago. Clearly shaped by hand, it has the air of a Japanese piece about it.
