More damsels in distress in my vase this week. Snapped off narcissus rescued from a lovely big swathe of flowers in the grounds of Gosford House. But I think they are rather upstaged by the few stems of scilla growing on the edge of the dune behind the beach, at the bottom of the hill. Such a gentle, pretty blue, I really love them. I also have a lovely shiny sticky bud of horse chestnut, before and after it burst into leaf! The weekend sunshine pouring into the kitchen, and on to the dining table, has encouraged the sticky bud to open its arms!
Sticky bud update!
Sticky bud update!
I got the white Tete at Tete from Parkers, but be careful. It's all very tempting! The blue is beautiful and I don't actually have any Scilla so perhaps I need to get some next year. Daffodils are always good and we need their cheerfulness just now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison. I will check out the white tete a tete! Scilla are so pretty! I love their gentle blue! Hope you are keeping safe and well. A
DeleteI adore blue flowers and yours are delicate beauties, Amanda. I love seeing those broad swaths of flowers too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kris. While we live through these weird times our flowers are our saviours and their beauty even more acute! A
DeleteDis you feel guilty leaving the Park with a little bunch of narcissi...?! Far better than leaving them to languish though... The paler ones are especially pretty and the blue scilla is sucha striking colour - I have white but not blue and must add some next year. Love the round ribbed vase and enjoyed seeing the progressin of your leaf bud opening
ReplyDeleteI don't find it difficult to feel guilty about all sorts of things, but when it comes to rescuing a lovely flower that will wilt and die without water, my guilt is non-existent! I love watching them revive once they are home, stem snipped and in a jug of warm water to revitalise them. They respond and that is so lovely to see! Glad you enjoyed the sticky bud! Always such fun to see! A
