By the time I have walked about four miles, my toes are screaming at me - it's the arthritis, you see. One of the joys of being that little bit older than I was. However, for a long time, I have been keen to walk along the beaches, and follow the coastal path, between Gullane and North Berwick. So, having worked out the tide times, I decided today was the day, and off we went. Below is our starting point, the bay at Gullane. It's a lovely beach, very popular with dog walkers. This is looking east, the direction Tilly and I were going to take. Looking back, up the Forth, the unmistakable bulk of Arthur's Seat, and Edinburgh's skyline, just clear enough to see. For most of the walk, there is the choice between wandering along a series of beaches, or following a path along the top of each. There's no denying it, at heart I am a shell-seeker. I have loads of shells at home. We lived on one of the out islands in the Bahamas for a just over a year, ...
A stunning creation. Beautiful way to come back to good health!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous isn't it! What on earth would life be like without flowers! A
DeleteHope you are back to full strength soon....
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! Getting there! A quiet week this week I think - last week was very busy leading up to my daughter's wedding!! A
DeleteGosh, Amanda, if you were hospitalised it must have hit you badly - so pleased to hear you are back home and hope you feel well enough for all the wedding preparations and excitement. What a gorgeous bouquet you were given and what fun you will have had working out what was in it - some inspired choices, and I especially love that pretty speckled delphinium (at least that's what I think it is). Thanks for sharing it
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy. The wedding weekend was fabulous, so all is well! The tall speckled flower is clary, or clary sage (Salvia sclarea), absolutely lovely! There are various peonies, apricot coloured stock, white campanula, white lace flower (Orlaya grandiflora), alstroemeria, and white valarian. All very delicious - lucky me! A
DeleteI'm glad to hear that you recovered from that nasty flu in time to enjoy your daughter's wedding, Amanda. The gift bouquet is beautiful and well worth showing off. The Salvia is spectacular, as are the peonies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kris. It has been a bit of a roller coaster ride but I made it to the wedding and it was glorious! Might show off some of those flowers next week! Definitely worth re-visiting! A
