No leaf was harmed in the production of this vase on Monday! They just fell apart all by themselves. Fragile ruby red stems of leaflets from the rowan tree in our garden, glorious robust butter yellow and gingernut coloured leaves from one of my witch hazel bushes, and the delicate graceful leaves of silver birch. They have all come together for my vase this week, and I feel they should be viewed with a sound track, so here is the link to Eva Cassidy singing Autumn Leaves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTkUplF5VIE It's all very melancholy, but however glorious autumn may be to the eye, it always brings a melancholy feeling to the heart. Another year moving towards its close.
Welcome to the running wave, which I set up as a vehicle for my photographs, with some observational chat and occasionally a little writing. I hope you enjoy the things I enjoy, sharing my walks with Tilly and Ted, and other excursions I have from time to time.
Beauties
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful fall foliage..the trees must look glorious!
DeleteThe autumn colour in the trees this year is spectacular. Can't remember enjoying it so much as this year! The silver birch, in particular, are like glowing torches in the midst of some very gloomy grey and wet weather at the moment. Lovely!
DeleteThose lovely colours are joyful to me - not at all melancholy. But then autumn is my favourite season!;-)
ReplyDeleteI love autumn too. Delicious nutty smells in the woods, fabulous colours in the trees and also all the fungi - it's a wonderful season. This year the autumn colours are spectacular and certainly brighten November, which is one of my least favourite months of the year!
DeleteAnother 'little' vase! I can see the challenge should not prove too difficult next week, and I really like your little collection of leaves, which reminds us that it does not always have to be blooms in our vases
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the little vase challenge for next week! Goodness only know what I will put in it, but the little grey cells are at work already! A
DeleteThey are beautiful but I find it a melancholy time of year too. It all looks wonderful as I drive around now but in a few weeks the trees will be bare. Planting bulbs as consolation.
ReplyDeleteI still have a few bulbs to plant, but not in the quantities you will be dealing with I am sure!! Just some for a couple more flower pots in the garden! We have had so much rain here over the past two or three weeks that the ground is totally sodden. Quite glad I don't have any bulbs to go in the soil, they would probably float away! A
DeleteWhat beautiful colours and sheen on the leaves....yes its that melancholic time again!
ReplyDeleteThe leaves in autumn accentuate how different they all are! Apart from different shapes, they all choose to turn a different colour. A glorious time of year really! A
DeleteI wish we had fall foliage that glorious, Amanda!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that the countryside at the moment is looking startlingly beautiful with so much autumn colour in the trees! We are lucky! A
