We had the first frost of the autumn a couple of days ago, and strong winds are blowing leaves all over the place, but despite all that my vase this Monday is still very summery. That's fine by me. The vase includes the last of the sweet peas but there is still plenty of everything else. The colour in the garden is very welcome but I daresay, as we gallop towards November, it won't last very much longer, so enjoy it while ye may!
Welcome to the running wave, which I set up as a vehicle for my photographs, with some observational chat and occasionally a little writing. I hope you enjoy the things I enjoy, sharing my walks with Tilly and Ted, and other excursions I have from time to time.
Beautiful mix of colour.. its giving me a Spanish vibe for some reason. Probably the mix of vibrant colours. x
ReplyDeletePerhaps one of the dahlias is calling you to stick it behind your ear and do a quick tarantella! x
DeleteBeautiful colors and love the dahlias....visiting from Cathy's meme IAVOM.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful summery mix! The dahlias are deserting me even here in the land of nearly endless summer.
ReplyDeleteYou still have sweet peas!! When did you sow them, Amanda? I sow mine in the autumn but must try a later sowing too and prolong the season. AS you say, sucj a summer feel to your vase still
ReplyDeleteI think I sowed the sweet peas quite late - maybe April or May - I can't remember! Seems like an age ago now. The white ones always seem to be stronger than the other colours. My favourite is the smaller 'Cupani' which has a wonderfully strong scent and is closer in type to a wild sweet pea. It first came to the UK in the late 17th century - according to information on Sarah Raven's website (worth checking out as she has a wonderful range of sweet pea seeds). A
DeleteLovely, the Dahlias especially that apricot color mixed with a bit of purple. Happy
