This morning I explored a route I have been wondering about for a long time. Driving along the A1, east of Edinburgh, perched on the skyline sits Fa'side Castle, a fifteenth-century four-storey keep. Today I drove passed it, along a lane high up above the main road. The view was fantastic, from the three Forth bridges in the west, across the whole city of Edinburgh, north to Fife, and all the way down the Firth of Forth out to the North Sea.
This photo is for the bird lady of the Mornington Peninsula! A parliament of crows, enjoying the view!
Welcome to the running wave, which I set up as a vehicle for my photographs, with some observational chat and occasionally a little writing. I hope you enjoy the things I enjoy, sharing my walks with Tilly and Ted, and other excursions I have from time to time.
Thanks for the beautiful photo - a parliament or a murder - of crows - depending on the situation I guess!
ReplyDeleteWe had about 50 crows gather in the big gum tree down the road the other day. I realised the day after they had gathered for a 'crow' funeral. One poor soul was dead in the park. They gather to look at the corpse and discuss the cause and make sure all other crows are fully up to date to ensure the reduction of another event occurring. Clever birds, crows! I was careful not to go near the corpse because crows have awfully good face recognition and I didn't want them to think I'd had anything to do with it!
The castle has a great view btw - clearly built to see invaders and visitors from afar.
Lovely photos as per usual.
Happy days to you xxxx
