For me, in early spring, it's hard to beat the simple, pure blossoms of wild cherry and blackthorn. They are so delicate and yet they brave the strong winds, late frosts and, yesterday, hailstones which rained down on us from a freezing cold sky.
I also love to see tender but sturdy new shoots, bursting through the crusty old lichens along the branch of a little apple tree. Life asserting itself, as always!
