Happy New Year dear running wave readers!
We are still in Australia and, for once, ahead of the new year game, seeing in 2015 in wonderful style down on the Mornington Peninsula, eleven hours ahead of family and friends at home! It was a truly great evening, a wonderful meal with highly entertaining friends, lots of party goers wandering up and down the street (which ended at the beach), a couple of stalwarts playing the bagpipes with a happy procession behind them as the new year became two minutes old, and of course loads of fireworks going off around us and, in Melbourne! A fabulous display in the city, and these are photos taken of images on the television - a bit of a cheat, but I couldn't resist. They were so spectacular. We usually only see a glimpse of the Sydney's New Year celebrations at home, but this year Melbourne really pushed the boat out and the result was truly spectacular!
And the morning after! Mr Gaucho and I wandered down the street to the little cafe on the corner, which was doing a brisk new year's morning trade, and we took our cafe lattes across the road to sit by the beach. Signs of last night's revelries were obvious, but the view across the sea was peaceful, with soft grey, tranquil water and gently lapping tiny waves. A perfect start to the first day of a new year.
I hope that 2015 is a happy, healthy and peaceful year for you and yours. I hope, too, that you will travel through this forthcoming year with me, and see where it takes us!

Woo hoo, happy new year! I'm waving from the other side of the world and hoping you are having a lovely time with your family. It's going to be strange coming back to the land of frosts and soups, Antonia x
