Honestly, we are not used to all this grey, wet weather. We pride ourselves on the amount of sunshine we have in East Lothian, but at the moment it's just not happening! So, with two dogs sitting around, almost comatose with boredom, Mr Gaucho and I braved the weather this morning, and headed for the beach at Belhaven.
The North Sea is not a pretty sight in the depths of winter! Today, the waves were brown from a churned up sea. The beach was a mess with flotsam and jetsam strewn the length of the shoreline, and, in places, it has been completely re-profiled by the heavy seas of the past few weeks.
We arrived home, a bedraggled quartet, to find this little beauty peeping out from underneath a fresh green leaf. So, out with the old - a desiccated Christmas tree, dead holly and all that stuff, and in with the new, the first primrose. Hooray!

I can just imagine the wind whipping up and causing your face to feel rather frozen in that kind of weather. Looks amazing and I love the huge wave...brilliant photograph.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little primrose (wild) or is it a primula?
The weather has been unseasonably warm in the UK.
