By the time I have walked about four miles, my toes are screaming at me - it's the arthritis, you see. One of the joys of being that little bit older than I was. However, for a long time, I have been keen to walk along the beaches, and follow the coastal path, between Gullane and North Berwick. So, having worked out the tide times, I decided today was the day, and off we went. Below is our starting point, the bay at Gullane. It's a lovely beach, very popular with dog walkers. This is looking east, the direction Tilly and I were going to take. Looking back, up the Forth, the unmistakable bulk of Arthur's Seat, and Edinburgh's skyline, just clear enough to see. For most of the walk, there is the choice between wandering along a series of beaches, or following a path along the top of each. There's no denying it, at heart I am a shell-seeker. What a happy set of photos! I love to see two or more dogs bounding around, thoroughly enjoying life and each other's company - especially when they have an empty beach to themselves.
ReplyDeleteI lost my lovely boy this week, so this brings back poignant memories of our countless beach walks together.
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear about losing your boy. These dogs are family and their loss is so acute. Tilly is nine now, and Ted is keeping her on her toes! It was great to see them roaring around. I hope that in time you can enjoy that sight again! Best wishes. A
DeleteThank you; he has left a huge void and a heavy silence here. The hurt is a physical pain, and I miss him so much. But hard as it is to lose them, I can't bear to think of an empty and quiet house for ever, so maybe one day, another dog will share my walks again. Lots of love to give and receive . . .
DeleteWhen the time is right for you there will be a four legged friend out there, ready to share your life with you, because that's what they do! Don't leave it too long! Your dear old boy will understand and be urging you on to give a youngster the opportunity to throw him/herself around the beach, and bring fresh joy into your home again. A
DeleteLovely to see them both 'cutting loose' on the sand. Happy days being by water and with dogs...:))) xx
ReplyDeleteYes, Ted certainly loves the beach! Had a little paddle in the sea at North Berwick yesterday! He has added a very happy dimension to our household! x
