The dogs and I walked down Bickerton's Walk, near the village of Aberlady, today. A new path for us and it revealed one or two treats. Firstly we unexpectedly encountered the remains of a fourteenth century Carmelite friary, Luffness Friary. Within the ruins of the walls there is a stone tomb with the worn depiction of an unknown knight. There are various stories as to whose grave it is, the most likely being it is that of John Bickerton, who held the land at Luffness at the end of the 13th century,
There were a few bluebells, some lovely smelly lilac just coming in to flower, a rather grand water tower in the field called Bickerton's Strip, and best of all, an extremely pretty and delicate deer.
