I think I am probably addicted to lavender. It's delicious in so many ways. I love to cook with it (yummy in shortbread, great with roast lamb, unrivalled on the coals of the barbecue to smoke chicken), lavender honey is manna from heaven, the essential oils are essential, and to squeeze a flower as you pass a plant, to release those oils, is irresistible.
The lavender hedge we planted three (could have been four) years ago is looking very good this year. Sitting nearby, in the sun, we get wafts of scent and the contented sound of buzzing, happy bumble bees, as they ceaselessly flit from one flower head to the next. There are dozens and dozens of them.
