Clear blue sky!

AT LAST!  Clear skies this morning.  It's the first time in days and days, probably weeks, that we have not woken up to leaden, overcast weather.  So we went for a walk, and it was so good to get out of the house, especially with a touch of frost across the landscape.  It almost felt wintery!

  1. We've only had one very light early morning frost that didn't make enough impression on the shrubs to show up on a photo.
We did have a day of intermittent hailstones, rain, sun, snow! But now the rain is back with a vengeance - roll on summer; I am craving sunshine warming me as I sit outside with a book.

    1. Lovely to hear from you! Happy New Year. I have almost forgotten what the warmth of sunshine feels like! There was snow on the Lammermuir Hills last night. I have taken a photo, from a distance, so don't know if it has come out well enough to post here. I will check! In the meantime, I'm with you - roll on spring, summer, sunshine - anything brighter than this!

Early morning light

There have been some cracking early morning skies this week.  The sunrise has generated a strong rose gold light which has been picked up not only in the clouds but also through the silver-white grasses around the edge of the golf course. I always marvel at the clouds.  Constantly changing, formations that have never been seen before, never to be seen again.

In a vase on Monday - colour

The intense colours in my vase this week come from nasturtiums, sweetpeas and a single glorious zinnia! Their beauty and love of life speak for themselves and need no further words from me! Enjoy!

(Not) in a vase on Monday!

The challenge this week, set by Cathy at  https://ramblinginthegarden.wordpress.com to celebrate five years of In a Vase on Monday, was to offer (Not) in a vase on Monday!  So here is my interpretation of that idea with one of my Plant Belles, which I tend to use for things I find and enjoy.  I weave bits and pieces through the metal ribs and keep them until they fall apart, or something even better turns up!  Lichen covered twigs, branches of larch with tiny cones, seed heads, twisted heather stems, anything and everything that has form and beauty.
