This is how they built farm buildings in 1892.
Even in a state of disrepair, they are pretty impressive. Imagine how they must have looked in their heyday.
I have just taken my son-in-law across to the other side of the valley, to this farm where his acquaintances bought the farmhouse (which is huge) and all its dilapidated steading buildings. As you can see, there is lots to do, mega bucks to spend, but how wonderful it will all be once renovation work has been completed.
There are many, many farm steadings in East Lothian, which have been converted to housing. They make lovely homes, and if this is what is going to happen here, whoever moves out to this part of the world will be very lucky people! It's a beautiful area, with the Lammermuir Hills just to the south, rolling countryside all around, and this view of Traprain Law to the north.
And to finish off this morning's offering - a field, closer to home!
